Children's Marine Ecology Club May 30th 2022

May 30, Monday

10:00 - 12:00

Mulberry Marine Experiences, 9 Orchard Parade, Selsey, West Sussex, PO20 0NS

What's Here

Mulberry Marine Experiences often meet children who tell them they want to work in Marine Biology and Conservation. The future of our oceans depends on them realising their dreams and Mulberry Marine Experiences loves to be a small part on that journey.

The club will run* on Mondays between 10:00 and 12:00 during the school holidays and can be attended on a causal basis, just sign up for the dates that work for you.

What will we be doing?

Club attendees will take part in lots of activities designed to expand and add to their knowledge of our oceans. Activities include learning about some of the amazing marine life, looking at ecology theories and issues, like symbiosis, food webs, pollution, and climate change. You will not be restricted to class learning and will use beach sessions to see in practice how these ideas translate to our shores. You will take part in egg case hunts and identification, beach walks, shore surveys to record life, rock pooling, snorkelling**, and exploring. All sessions are led by SSI Ecology Instructor Anya Frampton and count towards the citizen science work we are doing.

When you book, you will be emailed to advise the activity and what you need to bring to be prepared. All sessions will begin and end at the centre and activities will take into consideration weather. If you do not want to miss out on the fun, why not book a family Ecology Day and learn together!

Club members can choose to work towards SSI globally recognised certifications in Ecology. If you would like to find out more about how this works, please contact Mulberry Marine Experiences for more information.

**Snorkelling requires additional medical paperwork.
