MME: Marine Life Walks - Thursday 18th January 2024

January 18, Thursday

10:00 - 11:30

9 Orchard Parade, East Beach, Selsey PO20 0NS

What's Here

Life on our shores can be small and easy to miss but our beaches are full of marine life just waiting to be discovered.  Mulberry Marine Experiences' Marine Life walks will introduce you to the marine residents of the intertidal zone, and give you insights into daily life. Led by a SSI Marine Ecology Instructor who will show you where to look, and provide information on their daily life, trails and challenges. Featured in The Guardian in 2020 as one of the top ten best activities on our coasts why not head along and find out more.

Groups and family fun friendly, walks are suitable for all ages and take about and hour and half in total. Your guide will meet you for introductions before setting out. Held at several locations around Selsey, West Sussex including Selsey Bill, Selsey Lifeboat Station and on the spits of the mussel beds at East Beach. You will not cover vast distances but you will be amazed at just how much you can see. Cameras and questions are essential so please bring both!

The walks will take place over groynes and shingle to get up close to the marine residents of the intertidal zone*. If you wear shoes and clothes suitable for a little wading you can be introduced to even more. Part treasure hunt, always a litter picking opportunity no two walks are ever the same.

If you would like to arrange a private walk and talk please contact Mulberry Marine Experiences to discuss your needs, they would be delighted to help and can even come to beach near you!

All money raised from Marine Life Walks is used to fund the Ecology work that Mulberry Marine Experiences carry out, including children's clubs and certifications, beach cleans and surveys, and citizen science work to support local projects and charities.

*If you are not able to walk on shingle please ask about how we can deliver this talk online for you.
