Marine Life Walks

Explore our rich shoreline on foot via one of Selsey’s Marine Life Walks led by our resident qualified SSI Marine Ecology Instructor.

Selsey’s shores and waters are blessed with a rich, diverse wealth of marine life from rays to seahorses; crabs to sea anemones and barnacles to mermaid purses.  Widley publicised, Selsey has two designated Marine Conservation Zones off its coastline protecting these unique ecosystems.

Explore our rich shoreline on foot via one of Selsey’s Marine Life Walks led by our resident qualified SSI Marine Ecology Instructor.  Discover for yourself the species which make up these diverse ecosystems; get the facts and information on these sea creatures and learn how and where to search them out and how to recognise them.

Each walk lasts 90 minutes and covers a variety of sites including Selsey Bill, East Beach near Pagham Harbour, Selsey Lifeboat Station and West Beach.  Come prepared to wade in shallow water and bring a camera to record your finds!  If you enjoy rock pooling this is a great family activity which takes it to the next level!

Selsey’s Marine Life Walks have featured in The Guardian’s Summer 2020 Top 10 of the Best Beach and Coast Activities around the UK.
