Selsey Town Council

Selsey Town Council is the first and closest tier of local government to the town's residents. Its fourteen Members are elected by the public and serve a four year term. These Councillors are unpaid and freely give their time and expertise to ensure that the local area is represented and its views made known to principal authorities.


 There are projects and services carried out by the Town Council, including:

  • Management of six recreation and play areas, skate park and BMX track
  • Working with voluntary groups to provide support for activities and initiatives
  • Hanging Baskets in the High Street
  • Christmas Lights
  • Seating on the sea wall
  • Providing some of the town's street lighting
  • Providing some services in the town on behalf of Chichester District Council and West Sussex County Council
  • Delivery of some community support service

In partnership with other local authorities and groups the Town Council is involved in:

  • Neighbourhood Panel - crime reduction forum
  • Financing the CCTV cameras in the town

The Town Council also consult on major issues in the town for example:

  • All planning applications
  • Highway schemes

and has representatives on a number of organisations and groups:

  • Chichester District Association of Local Councils (CDALC)
  • Manor Green Park Group
  • Emergency Planning Committee
  • Manhood Peninsula Partnership
  • Manhood Peninsula Road Safety Group
  • Manhood Peninsula Steering Group (SOS)
  • Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve
  • South Chichester County Local Committee

All Town Council meetings and those of its Committees are open to the public. Agendas for the meetings are displayed on the Town Council notice boards around the town and on the Council website under Minutes and AgendasIf you wish to come along to a meeting and speak on a specific matter please contact the Council via enquiries@selseytowncouncil.gov.uk who can advise you and arrange for the meeting Chairman to call upon you to speak.
