16:00 - 17:00

Mulberry Marine Experiences, 9 Orchard Parade, Selsey, West Sussex, PO20 0NS

What's Here

Mulberry Marine Experiences are pleased to offer a Marine Ecology Club designed specifically for the younger ocean lover. Whilst they may have a passion for our oceans there is no requirement to get in the water unless they want to! They only need the curiosity to find out more about the oceans and the marine life that calls it home. It is wonderful and exciting that the team meet a lot of children who tell them they want to work in Marine Biology and Conservation, ultimately the future of our oceans depends on them realising their dreams and Mulberry Marine Experiences love to be a small part on that journey.

They will be offering an afterschool Children's Marine Ecology Club, based in Selsey for children aged between 6 and 11. The club will meet on a Thursday evening at 16:00 to 17:00 during the school term. It is not required that they attend every week you can sign up for the dates that you want via the link above.  Sessions are £5 per child, but there are a number of sponsored places available, please contact Mulberry Marine Experiences via the link above about sponsored places.

What will they be doing?

Marine Ecology Club attendees will take part in lots of activities designed to expand and add to their knowledge of our oceans. Activities will include fun and informal learning about some of the amazing marine life you can find both overseas and right here in Sussex waters. This will include introduction to ecology theories and issues, like symbiosis, food webs, pollution, and climate change. They will not be restricted to class learning and use beach sessions to support club sessions weather and conditions allowing. They will have the chance to take part in Citizen Science events like species recording, and egg case hunting during club meetings.

In the summer of 2023 Mulberry Marine Experiences will offer regular attendees the chance to join a summer programme to include snorkelling**, and in water exploration, working on a project to support our local marine life. All sessions are led by SSI Ecology Instructor Anya Frampton and supported by Mulberry Marine Experience staff with enhanced DBS checks.

If club members interest runs deeper there is the opportunity for club members to earn SSI globally recognised certifications in Ecology in a range of subjects** If you would like to find out more about how this works, please contact the team for more information (via the link above).

** Requires additional paperwork and fees.
